One more thing...
If you live in the Town of New Hartford, you should be asking why Supervisor Miscione refuses to release the 2021 Audited Financial Statements even though two (2) Freedom of Information requests have been sent, one in November 2022 and one in early February 2023?
On November 29, 2022, an appeal was also sent to Town Clerk Cheryl Jassick-Huther.
On December 8, 2022, the following reply was received from the town clerk:"As indicated in my email of November 3, 2022, the Town has not received the documents you requested thus we are unable to provide them. I assure you as soon as they are received we will provide them. I do not know a specific date which I will have them as they are not under our control."
So, in December 2022, the 2021 audited financial statements ARE NOT under the control of the town??? Who's control are they under???
An email sent on February 24, 2023 to Supervisor Miscione; Councilman David Reynolds; and Town Clerk Cheryl Jassick-Huther requesting an update on the unanswered FOIL requests for the 2021 Audited Financial Statements has been ignored.
"The law allows up to five (5) business days for the town to respond with a reasonable time the records can be expected. We are well beyond the legal five (5) business days allowed. There is no reason why financial records paid by tax dollars in 2022 should not be readily available."
Perhaps the reason is the town is in financial distress? What other possible reason could it be???
Just what could possibly be the reason why a town resident's email for an update to a FOIL request is being completely ignored???
The fact that the 2021 financial status of the town is being hidden from taxpayers should be a concern for every taxpaying resident in our town not to mention the rude treatment by elected officials!!
Who works for whom??? I think we are about to find out...just saying!!
