Washington, D.C. - January 13, 2022...

Nancy Drew (aka Kelly Marie Brady) sent us a video of the White House and one of the Capitol today. Strange things happening...

This first video shows the fence that is being built in front of the White House. A couple of days ago, Nancy thought it was only being built around the fountain so repairs could be made to some pipes, etc. However, today it appears that it has been extended on one side. What is being done is anyone's guess. I am sure Nancy will continue to keep an eye on it:

The next video shows the Capitol; there is a huge presence of black SUVs and police. This has been the case for the past week.

For a couple of weeks now, Nancy Drew has been noticing that the flags on several government buildings have frequently gone from being flown at full-staff to half-staff and not all government buildings are displayed in the same manner each day.

Did you know that there is a policy for the flying of the U.S. flag:

Policy for Flying the United States and District of Columbia

Flags at Full and Half-Staff in Washington, DC

There are many specific rules and regulations regarding the handling, display, and use of federal and state flags. This document applies Federal Government and Government of the District of Columbia policy to flying the federal and District Flags at full and half-staff on federal and District-owned buildings. Written guidelines help ensure that proper respect for the flag and its tradition are maintained.

PURPOSE:

This document establishes policy and provides procedural guidance on flying the flag of the United States and the flag of the District of Columbia at full and half-staff at District of Columbia government facilities. The term “half-staff” means the position of the flag when it is one-half the distance between the top and the bottom of the pole on which it is flying. All District agencies shall display the United States and District of Columbia flags at half-staff at DC government facilities in accordance with this policy, when directed to do so.

PROCESS FOR ORDERING THE FLAG TO HALF-STAFF

Only the President of the United States can order the U.S. flag to half-staff (with the one exception that the Mayor of the District of Columbia can order the U.S. flag to half-staff when an active duty member of the U.S. military from the District of Columbia dies).

So, the President is ordering the lowering of the U.S. Flag on different buildings each day. Very strange!

Nancy also sent the picture below:

According to Wikipedia:

District of Columbia Protective Services Division

The District of Columbia Protective Services Division (formerly, the Protective Services Police Department) is a division of the Department of General Services of the District of Columbia Government. The organization is responsible for "law enforcement activities and physical security of all properties owned, leased or otherwise under the control of the Government of the District of Columbia."

PSD officers are sworn law enforcement personnel with full police authority delegated from the Mayor of the District of Columbia and have the authority to bear firearms, serve warrants, and make full custodial arrests throughout the District of Columbia.

In front of the IRS...very strange!
