First let's compare the inventory of 5 Oxford Road to the inventory of 29 Oxford Road; the property the school wants to buy.
The town's assessment database lists 5 Oxford Road:
- 2,586 sq. ft.
- effective year built of 1990 [obviously there was extensive remodeling in 1990 because the house is older]
- 2012 Tentative Assessment is $155,000.
The town's assessment database lists 29 Oxford Road:
- 2,304 sq. ft.
- built in 1920
- 2012 Tentative Assessment is $119,600.
Now let's compare the Actual 2011 sale price of 5 Oxford Road to the Proposed sale price of 29 Oxford Road...
Nov. 1, 2011 Sale price of 5 Oxford Road.....$139,500
Price New Hartford Central School wants to pay for just 29 Oxford Road...we are not really sure because the school hasn't been completely open, but the handout we received says they will be paying $244,000 for 29 Oxford Road to include a small parcel of vacant land [280 ft. by 100 ft.] on George Ave...plus they are asking taxpayers to approve an additional $36,000 just in case there are environmental issues.
Total cost of 29 Oxford Road and a small parcel on George Ave....not to exceed $270,000!!!
Does anyone see anything wrong with this picture?
We ask once again...Does Mr. Brown realize that the school used his two (2) year old Broker's Opinion to justify their proposition to purchase 29 Oxford Road when there are more recent sales available in close proximity to 29 Oxford Road that do not justify the sales price?
We also ask...where are the elected members of the Board of Education...they should be ashamed of themselves!! We would be interested in knowing if the approval to purchase these properties for this price was by unanimous vote of the school board.
To be continued...If you have not read our previous blogs on this subject, they are available here!

I hope Tuesday night that voters put the candidates on the Board that care about the children of New Hartford and understand that landlocked property although not a problem now could create a serious problem in the future.
If the district was concerned about being "landlocked" why did they most recently pour millions of dollars into a new auditorium , athletic fields, etc. did it never before occur to them that perhaps a new facility in a new location would be more cost effective? Just when and how will the present location ever become "UNlandlocked"
Kids-kids-kids. It's obvious the writer could care less. Why build a new math and science center or a field that helps the kids compete?
What about the DRUGS that are rampant in the New Hartford Schools? Where is the Board of Ed on this and similar issues? We have the CHEATING scandal and the ATHLETICS scandal.
Time to elect NEW Board Candidates who are NOT educators or tied to the Family & Friends.
The O-D finally broke their silence on this subject!
I just saw the Utica Observer Dispatch article that talks about the purchasing of some properties near the school. ( http://www.uticaod.com/latestnews/x1310215236/Would-property-purchase-by-N-Hartford-schools-be-a-conflict )
My concerns are that what is reported by the O.D. appears to be in conflict with the articles I have read - authored by New Hartford NY Online.
I wonder who is b/sing whom? I do think the O.D. could have done a much better job in their article.
Thankfully, we have Susan Lerner from Common Cause who said that there is a conflict of interest...but everyone else thinks not???
Accoding to the OD they put $46,000 of improvements to the vacant land? Where? A berm and a bunch of trees. Please!!!!!!!!!

That's one of the problems with this whole thing. Where were the bids? Who did the work? Can we see the invoices?

The only other people in the article that said there wasn't a conflict of interest are the people who have a conflict of interest.
I read this morning's internet copy of the school property purchase proposals set for vote on May 15th.
Was there a change to the Reporter's original story? I was wondering if the parties stating "no conflict of interest" is trying to back-peddle all of their bull/sht to the town residents.
Incidentally, where the hell is Donna Donovan? Her friendship with LR creates a biased news reporting on anything that is connected to LR or the silver spoon people.
I was surprised to learn that the attorney named Reichl has a business dealing with LR and the NH Library. This whole thing smells to high heaven and we need gallons of clorox to clean this stinking mess up.
I am voting NO on all three propositions and voting for Russ and Ed. These two are the only ones that make any sense, caring to the peoples' needs and recognize that the budget is hopefully, DOA.
Long overdue for NEW BLOOD!
